Community Health Nursing
One of the core functions of the Whitley County Health Department involves providing community health nursing and education services to Whitley County. This service may be provided in schools, factories, businesses, churches, senior citizen centers, and a multitude of other locations. The Community Health Nurse is able to provide education on all aspects of health including, but not limited to, physical activity, nutrition, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight management, hygiene, mental health, addictions, coping skills, communication, tobacco cessation, substance use, HIV/STI, safety, and injury prevention. The Health Educator can offer Lunch & Learns and guest speaker presentations, connect residents to community resources, help organizations set up exercise clubs and wellness programs, and more. Programs and presentations can be developed to fit the needs of the requestor.

JCAP (Jail Chemical Addiction Program) is aimed at addressing substance use and addiction issues among incarcerated individuals.This program is designed to provide structured, evidence-based support for residents struggling with chemical dependencies. Our goal is to reduce relapse and recidivism by equipping participants with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed for long-term recovery and successful reintegration into the community.
