Civil Process

  • Per Indiana law, there is a $60.00 fee for civil process service generated from out-of-state agencies. This is payable by certified check or money order, made payable to WHITLEY COUNTY SHERIFF. We do not accept personal checks.
  • Please send 3 complete copies of the paperwork to be served.
  • Please include a letter with any special instructions or restrictions. Examples would be "no service on Sundays" or "no service after 10:00 pm", etc.
  • If you require a specific form be filled out for the "return of service" information, please include a copy of such form.
  • Please include a self addressed, stamped envelope to mail your return of service documentation.
  • Mail the paperwork to: Whitley County Sheriff, Attn: Civil Process, 101 W Market Street, Columbia City, IN 46725.
  • Note that we will make a minimum of 3 attempts at personal service, after that we reserve the right to leave the paperwork at the given address; and/or mail the paperwork, either regular mail or certified mail.
  • Please make sure that the name and address of the party to be served is displayed prominently.
