Home Detention

The Home Detention Program is designed for individuals convicted of non-violent felonies and misdemeanors and is available to both male and female participants. This program provides an alternative to traditional incarceration by allowing participants to serve their sentence at home while maintaining employment and participating in required programming. While under supervision, participants must understand that their home becomes their jail cell—movement is highly restricted, and strict compliance with all conditions is required. Participants are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through electronic monitoring, and/or Soberlink alcohol monitoring, and Field Officer visits, depending on individual case assessments and program requirements.

Home Detention participants are expected to comply with case management protocols, which include regular reporting to Community Corrections for case management meetings, drug testing, participation in individualized case plans, and engagement in recommended programming and services. Programming becomes priority while on Home Detention supervision. It may be necessary to adjust your work schedule as needed to accommodate case management meetings and/or programming and services.

Home Detention Field Officers closely monitor participants’ movements both inside and outside of the home, ensuring program compliance and safety. Any movement outside of the home must be scheduled in advance and approved by Home Detention staff. Approved activities may include work, religious services, court ordered community service, counseling, and programming referrals deemed necessary.

Home Detention participants are required to pay a daily fee. Payments must be made weekly or bi-weekly to maintain compliance with the program. Fees must be paid in full at the time of exit from the program.

If hourly wage is greater than $12.00 – Daily fees will be one hour’s wage per day (example: if hourly wage is $22.48 per hour, then you will pay $22.48 per day in home detention fees).

Drug screens are $20.00 for each screen received.

Transfer In Fees: Home Detention participants that are transferring supervision from another county are required to pay their first 30 days of supervision, a $250 transfer fee, and their initial drug screen on the day of sign up. (Example: If your hourly wage is $18.00 per hour then you will pay $18 per day x 30 days = $540.00 + $250 transfer fee + $20 drug test for a total of $810.00 due at intake).

Fees can be paid in person at Whitley County Community Corrections, online at www.whitleygov.com, or via telephone at (260) 248-3113. Payments can be made with cash, money order, or credit/debit card (fee applies). Personal checks will not be accepted.
