Am I registered to vote?
You can contact your county voter registration office or visit www.indianavoters.com to find out if you are currently registered to vote.
Where can I register to vote?
You may register to vote at a variety of places: your county voter registration office, your license branch or public assistance office.
How do I register to vote?
You only need to fill out a simple form (VRG-7) that asks for name, address, birth date and voter identification number. It also helps us if you list any previous name or address you have used on a former voter registration. Optional information includes telephone number and email address. You can get the form at your Voter Registration Office or on this website.
What is my Voter Identification Number as required on the voter registration form?
The voter identification number is your Indiana driver's license number or Indiana identification card number as issued by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. If you do not have an Indiana driver's license or identification card, then you would provide the last four digits of your social security number.
When must I register to vote?
You can register to vote any time of the year. However, to vote in a primary or general election, you must be registered at least twenty-nine (29) days before that election. A mail-in voter registration application must be postmarked at least twenty-nine days in advance of that election.
What do I do when I move?
On a voter registration form, check address change and fill out all the information, including your previous address. You can use a mail-in form or do this in person at your county voter registration office. It is very important that you do this so that we can cancel your old voter registration.
What do I do with my voter registration card?
When you receive your voter registration card, sign it and keep it to present at the polls on Election Day.
Am I registered as a certain party?
No. When voting during the primary election, you will be asked to pick a ballot of your choice (Democrat or Republican). This is to elect the parties candidate for the general election. The choosing of that ballot does not declare you as a Democrat or Republican.
